 What is Brake-In? This is a mild abrasive red coloured coating applied to the surface of the pads. It helps to reduce bed-in time significantly and lightly scrubs the brake disc after new pad installation. THE BIG REASON why we use this at EBC on our pads is because our discs are zinc coated. Brake-In coating removes the zinc in a few miles allowing optimum braking to be achieved faster. Glycol fluids degenerate and after 3 years can contain up to 12% water which causes "vapour lock" and spongy brakes under heavy loads. Always use fluid from a SEALED container and never re-use after the container has been allowed to stand for more than 90 days.
General purpose glycol fluid with wet boiling point of 260C/500F for most modern motorcycle and automotive brake systems. CANNOT be mixed with Dot 5 silicone fluids.
A highly refined DOT 4 based Glycol fluid that has less tendency to cause vapour lock. Please remember that once you open this container it will start to degrade so it is important to use it, seal your vehicles brake system and discard the remainder of the can due to shelf life issues. CANNOT be mixed with Dot 5 silicone fluids.
Unlike Glycol fluids, silicone does not damage or stain paintwork and is fitted to some high quality US built motorcycles. It is IMPERATIVE to check your owners manual and NOT to mix this fluid with Glycol fluids (as above) otherwise damage can occur to hydraulic seals and your entire brake system. |
